Our Perth studio offers a range of training sessions to suit different training needs. Not all cycling is the same, meaning we can assist you in improving sprinting and acceleration ability, sustained cycling power, improving overall fitness safely, or just enjoying a good workout on our computer networked Wattbikes or Computrainers!

We offer High intensity interval training (HIIT), Threshold type training,  Sprint criterium training, and Vo2 max type training at our athlete lab in Perth. Click on the names to download a detailed PDF.



POWER TRAINING (with your bike)

These bike training sessions are heavily based on targeted interval work using your own bike. The interval intensities are based on your unique fitness level, meaning completion of the session is tailored to you. These sessions will bring forward a maximum adaptation rate to exercise and fitness.

Ideally completing a power test in our Perth athlete lab before commencement of the session is favourable as it allows us to measure cycling performance gains over time.

SPRINT TRAINING (without your bike)

These sessions are intermittent in nature and involve regular change of pace type cycle training using the stationary resistance bikes in the studio. A great way to improve your acceleration capacity and ability to reach a high top end speed. The sessions suit people of any age, in fact the older cyclists stand to gain a greater benefit as structured sprint training yields greater % gains compared to younger counterparts.

Ideally completing a sprint power test at Exercise Institute Perth before commencement of the session is favourable as it allows us to measure cycling performance gains over time.

SWIMMING ERGOMETER

A novel approach to swimming training, this device is used to complete swimming intervals to power, or wattage, figures. The device measures left and right arm power and allows for individually tailored interval work. Interval sets can be completed to a percentage of Vo2max power and can fast track fitness gains when used in conjunction with the usual technical swim training completed in the pool.

Ideally completing a swim-power test in our Perth studio before commencement of the session is favourable as it allows us to measure performance gains over time.

ENDURANCE/SPRINT POWER GYM TRAINING

These sessions are completed in our Exercise Institute Perth studio alongside trained individuals unique to your sport or discipline. Gym training has been shown to increase exercise efficiency for endurance athletes and can also increase sprinting power for acceleration speed.

Again, older cyclists stand to gain a greater benefit as sprint specific structured gym training yields greater % gains compared to younger counterparts.

RUNNING TRAINING

This form of training uses your Vo2 max pace as a criterion for exercise prescription. This can be inferred or better yet, measured directly through a VO2 max test. Running intervals at Vo2 max pace facilitate a rapid rate of adaptation but also need to be administered carefully as they change the running gait and biomechanics compared to running at threshold pace.

OUTDOOR TRAINING

We offer outdoor running, cycling and swimming technique sessions for all levels of exercisers. Held throughout the weekdays and weekends we cater for a complete cross section of abilities. A great way to meet new people, get a quality workout based around your fitness characteristics. Always fun and social too.
